Been to see my friends in Malmo, and got to see a rather good group called Band of Horses.

If you want to see how a festival should be run, I suggest you go to see the Malmo festival. With lots of free concerts and static art displays, as well as a huge funfair and food from the 4 corners of the world (try the Langos, they are delicious), this is by far the best festival I have ever been too.

We also managed to visit Ystad , Famous for being the home of Wallander, and a place called Nimis .

Now Nimis is a very intresting place, but a real bugger to get too, but oh so worth it! Built on the shoreline in the northern part of Skåne in Sweden, it is one big labour of love by the artist. As far as I understand the situation, the structures have been pulled down twice, and over 80% of the site has been destroyed by fire. but each time the site has been rebuilt with amazing dedication. If you have the chance I suggest you head over to Nimis and go see for yourself, but I would advise you be prepared for the walk, its a bit of a hike.

Got back friday and as usual it was a bit nerve racking on staff travel as the flights were very full.

All in all a very good trip away

The effect this story has had on me is quite chilling.

I lost the sight in my left eye some 35 years ago, after being hit in the eye by a stone, which was thrown by accident, whilst I was having a hay fight with a cousin. Can you see any similarities yet?

This incident, I fear, is nothing but a tragic accident and my heart goes out to that boy and his family. From personal experience I know he will find it tough, and with a lot of help and support he will make it. However I have never ever felt that I have had a disability, in fact I feel that it has helped shaped me in to the person I am today.

My second tat is gonna seal my geek credentialsI have decided to get a Beastie tat on my forearm. Whats geeky about that is the fact that Beastie is the FreeBSD mascot, and is just slightly more than a little cute. In facbt hes so cute that even my wife wants one of them.

However I am thinking of getting a third tat as well which is more along what i think of Linux and why I prefer FreeBSD.

Indeed, not 24 hours after posting New Additions on this site, daughter 1 goes into labour. So after getting only 2 hours sleep that night and going into work on the day shift I get a call at 12:00 GMT to come home and make like a chauffeur.

30 minutes after leaving work in a bit of a state (I try to leave with work van keys in my pocket and my own car keys still in my locker door) I get to Daughter 1′s flat. My arrival was greeted with some relief from all those there, well daughter 1′s boyfriend and her 2 other kids, my wife and her had decided to walk across to the shops to get some food for lunch, apparently it helps with labour!

Eventualy they turn up with bread and fillings and daughter 1 looking quite incomfortable. When I say quite, I mean a lot. Her contractions were coming along every 5 minutes and lasting between 30 to 60 seconds.

We phone the hospital and they say for us to come in when the contractions are lasting for a minute, but I swear to God they dont take into account travelling time, house to hospital is a good 30 minute drive. We finish lunch and move daughter 1 to the car and head off to the maternity unit.

Now enough cannot be said for the midwives at the Wexham Park hospital maternty unit. Siobahn, Zoe, and Sarah where absolutely magnificent, they were the very epitome of professionalism.  They managed to cope with 2 quite fretful Grandads, my daughter and her boyfriend.

To cut a long story short daughter 1 gave birth to a very healthy 7lb 13oz baby girl who everyone is incredibly proud of.

The normal questions we are asking, is the baby going be alright, what sex is it going to be (girl we hope daughter 1 has 2 boys already), will it be long in arriving, and what size is it gonna be (Judging by her size we think its a whale).

So here’s to a few sleepless nights awaiting news.

For those of you who have never heard of this game (and I really would like to know where the hell you have been?), it basically is a mining simulation set in space. What it is famous for is the space battles that can and do happen in game not just between half a dozen ships, but for the 30 players per side fleet battles.

Having been playing for 3 weeks now, I have been getting to grips with the intricacies of this game. I have found the handy tools for the PC (EVEmon) and several handy apps for the iphone (Capsuleer and EVE Tracker).

But isn’t mining boring? Well yes and no, yes it gets monotinous but having everyone hanging on voice comms, discusing about whats the best skills for certain ships or ship loadouts, ort just general banter the time passes pretty quickly.

Our little corp currently has just 4 members but we can mine some significant ore and we now have sufficient skills within the corp to refine the ores we mine to more costly minerals used in construction. We have even managed to build a Drake (a Battlecruiser class missile boat of the Caldari navy) The amount of dps is phenominal compared to Cruiser class ships.

So I am flying around still a noob and enjoying some of the features of the game and trying to avoid getting the ship blown up
